The BCN Lumen-Peptides formula brightens hyperpigmented skin areas and prevents the formation of new imperfections on the face and body thanks to the synergy of three types of active ingredients that reduce melanogenic factors, inhibit melanin synthesis and increase cell detoxification.
These are next-generation peptides, pigment-removing tyrosinase inhibitors (α-arbutin and licorice root extract), and finally, powerful antioxidant active ingredients (3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid, thioctic acid, vitamin B3 and glutathione).
The other ingredients in this product, hyaluronic acid, vitamins, minerals and amino acids, help maintain overall healthy skin that is well nourished, perfectly hydrated, clear, blemish-free and looks younger. It is suitable for use for melanoderma, age spots, hyperpigmentation during pregnancy, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and spots associated with sunburn.
Skin pigmentation is caused by melanin synthesis by melanocytes in a process called melanogenesis. After melanin pigments are synthesized, they are transferred to keratinocytes (the most numerous cells on the surface of the skin) in cellular vesicles called melanosomes. The more melanosomes reach the keratinocytes on the surface, the darker the skin becomes. In fact, the skin produces two types of melanin: pheomelanin in people with pale skin and red hair and eumelanin in people with darker skin and hair and people with black skin.
Melanin synthesis is made from the amino acid tyrosine. Tyrosine is oxidized in the presence of the enzyme tyrosinase and oxygen to dopa, which in turn is oxidized to dopaquinone. Dopaquinone is then spontaneously converted to leucodopachrome, which is easily oxidized to dopachrome. Dopachrome loses its carboxyl and is reorganized to form melanin.
The combination of active ingredients in BCN Lumen Advanced-Peptides acts on all stages of this melanin production process, providing depigmenting, brightening and balancing effects on the skin thanks to the synergistic and combined action of three types of active ingredients. These include new generation biopeptides (oligopeptides 51, 34 and 58, decapeptide 15 and acetyl-glycine-beta-alanine), pigment removing tyrosinase inhibitors (α-arbutin and licorice root extract) and antioxidants such as in the form of ascorbic acid, thioctic acid, vitamin B3 and glutathione.
